Kick off meeting August 24-25

Dear all,
On August 24-25 we are arranging a kick-off lunch-to-lunch meeting (with overnight stay) for the doctoral program in Applied and Computational Mathematics. All PhD students and supervisors are welcome to participate (also students who have not transferred to the new program).
The meeting will take place at Nynäsgården in Nynäshamn.  It will be an excellent opportunity to get to know each other better and to launch fun and stimulating activities within the doctoral program for the upcoming academic year.
In particular, we will talk about what skills and abilities acquired during the doctoral studies that are important for a future career in industry or academia. There will be two main speakers by (fairly) recent PhD's talking from two different perspectives.
Jonathan Wendin, MSc from KTH and PhD from ETH Zurich in 2006. He has been working for five years as a quant at JP Morgan Chase in New York and is just starting a position for recruitment of new quants in North America. He will talk about his experiences from his doctoral studies and after.
Henrik Hult, PhD from KTH in 2003. He has been a postdoc in Copenhagen, at Cornell and Assistant Professor at Brown University (Applied Math), before returning to KTH. He will talk about his experiences from academia.
Please register to participate in this exciting kick-off meeting, by sending an email to Ann-Britt Öhman <annbritt@math.kth.se>.
Welcome,Henrik (Program director, Applied and Computational Mathematics)
