Hello,¶ We are two communication systems students looking for two opponents for our master theses "Reliable communication for autonomous vehicles in mine environments" and "Investigating antenna placement for autonomous mining vehicles". Our supervisor is Mats Nilsson and the tentative presentation date is June 23rd.¶ ¶ Below a summary of the entire project work:¶ Background:¶ Future vehicles are moving towards higher and higher degree of automation. There are already autonomous vehicles in areas that are not accessible to the public, such as mines. In the mining industry, it is crucial for the profitability that transports are as cost effective as possible and it is possible to reduce operating costs significantly by not being dependent on staff driving the vehicles. In order to save product cost and other advantages, the vehicles could be “Cab-Less”.¶ Target:¶ Optimized placement and number of antennas for running mining trucks autonomously.¶ Assignment:¶ Investigate optimal antenna type and needed number of antennas.¶ Find suitable methods for simulation and also measuring of antenna performance.¶ ¶ Best regards,Alessandro Tomasi¶ atomasi@kth.se¶ ---
