Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course covers project development and concept development in early phases and deals with concepts, approaches and tools related to architecture, technology, society, sustainability and economy.

Intended learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge about project development, concept and design in architecture and construction. After completing the course, the student should be able to:

  • Describe concept and design as value creation activity in architecture and construction.
  • Explain architectural concepts and give examples of approaches.
  • Describe and use project management related concepts and tools in relation to concept development.
  • Explain how different interests can be balanced to support a more sustainable built environment.
  • Relate to and apply previous knowledge in the area.

Specific prerequisites

Eligibility for the Master's programme in Real Estate and Construction Management. Equivalent knowledge to, or ongoing participation in, the course Project Communication AI2810

  • SEM1 - Seminar Assignment, 2.5 credits, grading scale: P, F
  • ÖVN1 - Essay, 5.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.
