DM284V Participatory Leadership 3.0 credits

Do also note that the course is given on campus mainly in the form of six 4-hour daytime sessions during week 35-37.

Applicants who are accepted will study the course together with KTH students who take the course DM2800

The selection process is based on a letter of motivation and previous education. The letter of motivation should explain why you want to take this course and it should include a short autobiography with information about relevant experiences from professional life and/or extra-curricular activities. KTH does not require a standard template, but your letter of motivation must be in English and should be maximum 500 words long. The last day for submitting your letter of motivaiton is Wednesday April 29, 2026.

Content and learning outcomes

Intended learning outcomes

After passing the course, the student should be able to

  • explain theories and analytical tools regarding complexity and leadership, systems thinking and how to lead change processes
  • lead groups in complex situations, in a critical, co-creative and creative way, both individually and in collaboration with others
  • develop practice around co-creative processes

in order to

  • be able to understand, relate to and lead sustainability-related change processes in a world characterised by increased complexity and uncertainty and take responsibility for their own learning.

Literature and preparations

Specific prerequisites

Skills in scientific thinking and writing through one of the following:

  • a university degree of at least 180 credits
  • a completed thesis leading to a university degree of at least 180 credits

Knowledge in English equivalent to the upper secondary school course English B/English 6.

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability. The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students. If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.
