Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

Some research supervisors from different areas of mechanics lecture on which methods are central in their respective area. Theory, numerical methods, and simulations should all be represented. Published works are studied with special attention to methodology.

Intended learning outcomes

After the course the students should be familiar with a umber of concepts from the research methodologies that are used in mechanics. The student should also be able to identify which methodologies that have been applied in a given published work and report in writing about this. The student should also be able to identify deficiencies in the methodology if such are present.

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.
