In early May/November you will receive your Letter of Acceptance from KTH and essential information regarding your exchange. The Letter of Acceptance is required if you need to make an application for a residence permit.
2. Apply for a residence permit
If you are not a citizen of an EU/EEA country, you need to apply for a residence permit. Please note that you must have paid the first instalment of the tuition fee before applying for a residence permit.
KTH is collecting emergency contact information from all newly admitted international students. This is done so that we can contact someone close to you in case of an emergency.
Moving to a new country is a big step, and we at KTH are here to make the transition easier. Please read our guide to living and studying in Sweden and learn more about the insurances you need, how to find accommodation and how to apply for our language courses.
It's time for you to start looking for accommodation. You may be offered housing by KTH Accommodation - however, most often, students need to find accommodation on their own.
As a KTH student, you can access student discounts through a digital student discount card from Mecenat. Find out more on the student unions (THS) website.
When you eventually write an exam, you have to register for the exam. Otherwise, you will not be able to attend. Find out how to register and at what dates.
Stockholm Student Health Services complements the public healthcare that is available to residents of Sweden. As a KTH student, you are welcome to contact us if you have health-related issues. You can get individual support or join group workshops.
Your international coordinator is your main academic contact during your studies. They will help you with any study-related concerns you might have, and send information about the school and programme activities before you arrive in Stockholm.
Students with documented, permanent disabilities can get compensatory support in their studies at KTH. What support you can get is an individual assessment and depends on what disability you have. Find out what support you can get and how to apply.
