Ahsan Javed Awan
About me
I am Dr. Ahsan J. Awan. I was Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral Fellow at KTH, Sweden and UPC, Spain. I worked on "Architecture Support for Big Data" under the joint supervision of Prof. Mats Brorsson, Assoc. Prof. Vladimir Vlassov and Prof. Eduard Ayguade.
I've represented KTH at OpenPower Foundation. I have previously interned at IBM Research Tokyo and worked at Recore Systems, the Netherlands as HiPEAC intern.
I was a visiting researcher at Barcelona Super Computing Center, Spain. Prior joining KTH, I worked as a Lecturer at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan. I hold an Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree in Embedded Computing Systems from TU Kaiserslautern, Germany, University of Southampton, UK and NTNU, Norway and a B.E degree in Mechatronics Engineering from NUST, Pakistan.
I was a speaker at Spark Summit Europe 2017 in Dublin, Spark Summit Europe 2016 in Brussels and HiPEAC Computing Systems Week 2016 in Dublin.

I defended successfully my thesis titled, "Performance Characterization and Optimization of In-Memory Data Analytics on a Scale-up Server" on Dec 15, 2017. The grading committee comprises Prof. Babak Falsafi, (EPFL, Switzerland), Prof. Avi Mendelson, (Technion, Israel) and Prof. Dimitrios Nikopolous (Queen's University of Belfast, UK), voted for Cum Laude Distinction
I was a Research Associate at SCALE LAB, Department of Computing, Imperial College London where I worked on exploiting neuromorphic hardware for massively parallel communication-intensive algorithms.
Currently, I am a Senior Researcher at the Department of Cloud Systems and Platforms, Ericsson Research, Sweden.
