* Period 1: Traditional lectures followed by aIn-class lectures, recorded lectures, tutorials, ticking sessions, and written exam;
* Period 2: Laboratory exercise and software project.
Format

* Tutorials, 26 hrs;
* "Ticking" sessions, 6 hrs;
* Laboratory exercise, 4 hrs8 hrs preparation, 4 hours lab execution;
* Project assignment, 22 hrs;

* Final examination, 5 hrs.
Prerequisites
* Signals and systems corresponding to EQ1100.;
* (Stochastic processes and signal theory corresponding to EQ1220).
Language used in the course The course will be taught in English since the course is part of of the international Master's program in Wireless Systems. In addition, several international exchange students will follow the course.

* Main textbook: Fundamentals of Digital Communications, Upamanyu Madhow, 2008. Sold at Kårbokhandeln.;
* Lecture notes/slides, recorded lectures, handouts;
* Collection of problems in communication theory, available to download
;
* SIGNE - Pulse amplitude modulation (memo for hardware-based lab exercise);
* QPSK - Analysis of a phase shift keying system (memo for software-based project assignment).
