Welcome to the advanced course in pulp and paper processes!
Teachers in the course are Associate Professor Elisabet Brännvall, KTH, and Dr Hannes Vomhoff, Innventia.
This course gives you a deep insight through lectures in the entire production process for pulp and paper, from raw materials to final products. Energy requirement, effluent management, and process control are also covered. In addition, the course involves a high degree of active student participation with both group works and a final project. Students will apply the knowledge by solving different types of industrially relevant problems. The course concludes with a project work where an integrated pulp and board mill is designed. This mill will be based on the best available technology and its design will be evaluated in cooperation with expertise from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
Although the course content is mainly directed to the pulp and paper production, the general knowledge acquired on the involved unit processes is of use in any type of process industry.
