Thank you for your registration for the course Introductory modern physics SH2008. I hope you are also aware that it still starting in one week on January 21 between 08-10 (we start actually at 08:15). The first lecture will be in the seminar room C3:3031of the KTH physics department (the so-called Hibert room) on the 3rd floor of the AlbaNova University centrum. It is in the corridor of the KTH nuclear and reactor physics groups.

It will be highly appreciated if you could read Ch. 1,3, 4 of Harris'book or Chap. 3-5 of Serway's book. In particular, please be prepared to answer the following questions during the first lecture
Triumphs of Classical Physics
Electromagnetic radiation and the challenges
What is Black-body radiation
photoelectric effect.
Compton scattering
Pair production
Wave packets and the Heisenberg uncertainty relation.
Wave-particle duality
