Dear participating students of SK1119. Due to the current situation connected to the Covid-19 virus the format of this year's course have changed. The course will be fully organized as an online course using Zoom video conferences. More information will soon follow here on the course web and in Canvas. Kursen ger en djupare förståelse av energibegreppet och den bakomliggande fysiken vid olika former av energiomvandlingar, vilka exempelvis förekommer i motorer och värmepumpar. Centrala begrepp i kursen är termodynamikens två huvudsatser, vilka behandlar energins kvantitet (energiprincipen) samt energins kvalitet (entropibegreppet) samt deras koppling till den mikroskopiska statistiska beskrivningen av energinivåer via den statistiska fysiken. Dessutom tar kursen upp olika former av värmeöverföring samt de fysikaliska principer som ligger bakom diskussionerna kring hållbar utveckling.
