Furnishing your new apartment

Many of you would have already arrived in Sweden and many of you would be planning to reach by the end of the month. Most of the student accommodations are furnished on a minimal level. You can read my previous blog post on what to expect in lappis here. It is wise and affordable to buy the essential housing and kitchen products locally in Stockholm than carrying them from your home country.

There are quite a few affordable stores in Stockholm and the second-hand market is quite alive at student accommodations. I find the most useful products on the lappis market at student-friendly prices. I suggest that you would check out some stores around the city and below are a few of my personal recommendations.

Home furnishing

If you are looking for study tables, bookshelves and beds, I would suggest the best place to buy one would be on the student accommodation second-hand market. Each accommodation such as lappis, kungshamra has an active student online market usually on Facebook where students post the items they are selling. You would be able to find one at affordable prices here than at the stores.

Recommended place: Second-hand market

Kitchen Utensils

The one place to find all kinds of kitchen utensils that can complete your kitchen would be none other than IKEA. You can find similar utensils at different price ranges and designs.

If you are staying in student accommodations with a shared kitchen such as in Lappis, you will find common kitchen utensils that can be used as well.

Recommended place: IKEA

I find plants to be essential to my apartment. It brings vibrant colour to the place, especially during the long cold winters. Every Swedish home inevitably has more plants than other home decor items. I purchase plants at Plantagen since it is close to Lappis and they have discounts regularly.

Recommended place: Plantagen
