Space is an outstanding example of a turbulent medium, whose accessibility allows experimental studies of plasma turbulence. The nature of turbulence in the solar wind and in other space plasmas is however complex and requires additional concepts to be added to the standard theory of turbulence. These include the extreme variability and inhomogeneity of the solar input, the strong anisotropic nature of the turbulence, and the low collisionality of the plasma. An overview of these topics will be presented.
