LaserFest - The Laser 50 years
2010 is the year of the Laser. It is 50 years since Theodore H. Maiman demonstrated the first functioning laser. From DVD players to eye surgery, the laser is one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century—one that has revolutionized the way we live. LaserFest is a yearlong celebration of the 50th anniversary of the laser, and is a collaboration between the American Physical Society, OSA, SPIE and IEEE Photonics Society. LaserFest has been celebrated all over the world during 2010.
Now the celebration of the laser has reached Sweden. December 9 is a full day dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the laser - in the morning in Kista and in the afternoon and evening at AlbaNova.
