Bhavana Vaddadi

I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Integrated Transport Research Lab (ITRL) at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, specializing in Innovations in urban and rural mobility systems. My academic journey has taken me through diverse environments, from urban planning in India to exploring innovative mobility solutions in the Netherlands and Sweden. I hold a PhD from KTH, where my research focused on evaluating the impacts of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) through a system-level perspective. During this time, I collaborated with industry leaders such as Scania and Ericsson, investigating the transformative potential of MaaS and decentralized Neighbourhood Telecommuting Centers.

Throughout my career, I have engaged with a wide range of projects that span policy interventions, user perception studies, and design innovations in smart and sustainable mobility. My work has always been driven by a passion for integrating technological advancements with user-centric design and policy frameworks to address the complexities of urban and rural mobility systems. I aim to contribute to the development of sustainable, adaptable, and resilient transport systems for cities of the future.

Currently, I am involved in various research projects, including studies on Digital Services in Freight Transport Systems, Micro Mobility Hubs, Social Robots in Autonomous Public Transport, Mobility as a Service, and Inclusive On-Demand Public Transport. I also have experience in organizing and writing project applications, with recent successes in securing funding for innovative mobility solutions. In addition to research, I am committed to teaching and mentoring, having recently co-led a master’s course in Systems Engineering, where I focused on collaborative systems thinking and real-world socio-technical challenges.
