Boban Djordjevic

I am a Senior Researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology working in the field of railway systems, digitalisation and sustainable transport. My research focuses on the transformation of railway systems through emerging technologies, innovative operational concepts and data-driven approaches, with the aim of enabling safer, more efficient and sustainable rail transport.

My work brings together railway engineering, digitalisation, automation, simulation and intelligent transport systems, with particular interests in digital twins, autonomous and automated railway operations, rail freight, railway safety and the integration of emerging technologies into future railway systems.

I am involved in national and European research and innovation projects and work closely with academic, industry and public-sector partners. Through these collaborations, my research seeks to bridge fundamental research and practical challenges in the railway sector and contribute to the development and implementation of new technologies and operational concepts.

At KTH, I contribute to the development of the Digital Rail Lab, creating an environment that supports research, education and collaboration around future railway technologies. I also contribute to teaching and the development of future railway researchers and engineers.

My overall research ambition is to support the digital and sustainable transformation of railway systems, contributing to innovative solutions for the future of passenger and freight rail transport.
