About me
I am Professor of Applied Physics and Head of the Department of Applied Physics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
My research is driven by curiosity about how light interacts with matter and how we can shape these interactions in new ways. In my research group, ONDA, we explore nonlinear optical materials and develop photonic technologies, particularly for quantum applications.
I also enjoy exploring how physics can contribute beyond its traditional boundaries. Through an interdisciplinary project supported by KTH Inspire Lab, I work with colleagues from different fields to develop new approaches to monitoring hormonal health, with the ambition of contributing to a better understanding of women's health.
Beyond research, I care deeply about creating academic environments where people and ideas can thrive. As Head of Department, I work to foster collaboration, inclusiveness, scientific independence, and a shared sense of purpose. I am particularly interested in how research and education can evolve in a rapidly changing world, including the opportunities and challenges brought by artificial intelligence.
Teaching and mentoring are an important part of my work. I value curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and helping young researchers find their own paths.
