Davide Balzarini

As a PhD candidate in the Division of Heat and Power Technologies, I study thermal technologies for decarbonization. My research focuses on hybrid energy systems that integrate high-temperature heat pumps with molten salt-based thermal energy storage to decarbonize industrial processes and increase the penetration of renewable power, in the framework of the EU-funded I-UPS project, as well as the UP-FLEXH and RIHOND ones.

Background

I graduated in 2021 with a B.Sc. in Physics Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, where I also completed an M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering in 2024. In 2022, I participated in an Erasmus exchange in Finland at the Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT), hosted by the Faculty of Energy Technology.
