Davide Rolando

I am a researcher at the Division of Applied Thermodynamics and Refrigeration, Department of Energy Technology at KTH. My research focuses on energy systems in buildings, with particular interest in heat pumps, geothermal systems, system integration, control, data-driven methods and the digitalisation of building energy systems.

I am the manager of the Granryd Laboratory, where I coordinate research infrastructure and experimental activities in heating, cooling and energy systems. I am also Vice Director of KTH Live-In Lab, a research infrastructure for testing and demonstrating technologies and methods in real buildings.

My research combines physical experiments, modelling and digital technologies. Recent activities include data-driven modelling and monitoring of heat pump systems, smart control of heating and cooling systems, hardware-in-the-loop experimentation, IoT and building data infrastructures, and the integration of building energy systems with the electricity grid. I am particularly interested in methods that connect simulation and data-driven approaches with real physical systems and experimental validation.
