Om mig

I am an Industrial PhD Student at the division of Water and Environmental Engineering, Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Sciences and Engineering (SEED).

I am employed at NGO Forum for Public Health Bangladesh as Head of Research Monitoring & Evaluation where I work with different development partners, and academic and research institutes on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).

My work focuses on “Increasing the impact and sustainability of safe drinking water supply systems in rural Bangladesh: Randomized experiments with interventions in project life cycle”. This study is funded by the FORMAS, Swedish Research Council under the project “ Participation and Sustainability: Experimental Evidence from safe water sources in Bangladesh”. My supervisors are  Prosun Bhattacharya (Principal Supervisor) and Anna Tompsett.

This study will measure the social and economic determinants of successful safe drinking water provision, using data from three separate programs about participatory decision-making, community contributions and sustainability which together constructed more than 700 such wells in rural Bangladesh between 2008 and 2017. The most common technology used to provide safe drinking water in rural Bangladesh is the deep tubewell, which draws water from an aquifer that is sufficiently deep to be free of contamination. The major contribution of this study is to evaluate the socio-economic determinants of successful and sustainable safe drinking water provision in rural areas. The results of the study will provide direct guidance for practitioners and policymakers seeking to improve access to safe drinking water in rural areas.
