About me
Jacob Odeberg is Professor of Clinically Applied Proteomics at KTH and group leader at SciLifeLab. He holds an M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Biochemistry from KTH, as well as a medical degree from Karolinska Institutet. He is a specialist in Internal Medicine and Haematology and has combined academic research with clinical work since 2002. In 2013, he was appointed to a joint professorial position linking KTH with work at Karolinska University Hospital. Alongside his work at KTH and SciLifeLab, he has since 2018 also held parallel appointments as Professor of Medicine (Hematology) at UiT The Arctic University of Norway and senior consultant at the University Hospital of North Norway (UNN), Tromsø. His research focuses on blood biomarkers for vascular disease, particularly venous thromboembolism and arterial cardiovascular disease, with emphasis on diagnosis, risk prediction, and prognosis. He is also co-founder of CytaCoat AB and co-inventor of an antibacterial surface technology later commercialised by the company.
