Edu4Chip
Edu4Chip – Joint Education for Advanced Chip Design in Europeis a European education initiative that strengthens Europe's chip design capability through harmonized, hands-on master's-level programmes – from high-level hardware description all the way to tape-out and silicon testing.
Project at a glance
| Funding | EU Digital Europe Programme, co-funded by Vinnova (grant 2023-03822) |
|---|---|
| Duration | October 2023 – 2027 |
| Consortium | 9 partners: 5 universities, 1 research institute and 3 SMEs |
| Target | Train 150+ European and 100+ non-European students in chip design every year |
Objectives
- Harmonized curricula– develop new and improve existing master's programmes in advanced chip design across the partner universities.
- From theory to tape-out– give students practical experience of the complete design flow, including manufacturing and testing of real chips.
- Specialization tracks– low-power design, secure hardware design and AI-oriented hardware.
- Mobility and employability– compatible programmes that let students move between institutions and enter industry ready to contribute.
