About me

Joydeep Dutta is Chair Professor of Functional Materials at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. His research focuses on nanomaterials for sustainable energy, water treatment, environmental remediation and green hydrogen production.

Combining experience in academia, industry and entrepreneurship across Europe, Asia and the Middle East, he has held senior leadership positions including Vice President (Academic Affairs) at the Asian Institute of Technology and Chair Professor at Sultan Qaboos University.

Professor Dutta has authored more than 300 scientific publications, three textbooks and 14 patents, with over 25,000 citations to his work. He has established centers of excellence in nanotechnology, led major international research programs funded by Horizon Europe, Vinnova and other agencies, and contributed to innovations recognized multiple times by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) Top 100.

His research aims to translate fundamental materials science into practical technologies for hydrogen production, electrochemical energy systems, water purification, resource recovery and sustainable food systems. Several technologies from his group have led to deep-tech spin-offs and commercialization initiatives in Sweden.
