Melisa Gounesher

I am a PhD candidate at the Division of Heat and Power Technology within the Department of Energy Technology at KTH. My research focuses on developing AI-supported strategies for decarbonizing industrial processes, with the goal of designing efficient and integrated solutions for future zero-carbon industries. Through my work, I aim to contribute to sustainable energy systems that are both practical and impactful for the transition to a low-carbon future.

Background

I completed my Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at Middle East Technical University in 2023. Following this, I pursued a Master's degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering at Lund University, which I completed in 2025. My Master's thesis focused on Energy and Heat Balance Optimization for CHP Plants with CO₂ Capture: Modeling and Sensitivity Analysis. In January 2026, I began my PhD at KTH.
