Short Biograthy

Prof. Michael Tendler is the Ernst Mach Laureate in Physics for 1999 awarded by the Czech Academy of Sciences. He joined the Alfven Laboratory in 1981. From 1992 until 2002 he was also the invited professor at the Institute National Recherche Scientifique, University of Quebec Canada. He has published over 160 papers, including the article in Reviews of Plasma Physics. Professor Michael Tendler is the former President of International Congress on Plasma Physics. He was awarded the honorary doctorates(Dr.h.c.) from the University in Gent, Belgium, the Russian Academy of Sciences, St Petersburg State Polytechnic University and the Institute of Bioregulation. He is a life-long member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.M.Tendler is a major driving force resulting in the award by the EU of the Erasmus Mundus status to the Masters Program in Nuclear Fusion Science and Engineering Physics in 2006. In 2008 he was awarded the " Gold Medal of Merit " by the Institute of Applied Astronomy. Since 2000 he is teaching the novel interdisciplinary course on Chaos & Selforganisation for Master & PhD students. Since 2011 Michael Tendler is science senior expert at ITER International Organization. He represents ITER International Organization in the Board of the Erasmus Mundus “ International Doctoral College in Fusion Science and Engineering “. He works on crucial issues for ITER of magnetic confinement and operation scenarios. He is also the member of governing bodies at fusion laboratories in many ITER member states. Many of his former students are among the leading scientists in fusion in Member states of ITER.
