About me
Dr Sugato Hajra is a Digital Futures Postdoctoral Fellow at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. His research is dedicated to the development of advanced multifunctional materials, sustainable energy harvesting technologies and self-powered intelligent sensing systems. His expertise includes synthesis and characterization of lead-free piezoelectric ceramics, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), functional polymers, and biodegradable and waste-derived materials for piezoelectric, triboelectric, and hybrid nanogenerators. His research focuses on harvesting energy from ambient mechanical sources and human activities to enable battery-free and autonomous sensing technologies for healthcare, wearable electronics, robotics and environmental monitoring.
He worked on the development of various multifunctional materials and energy harvesting systems for self-powered sensing, health monitoring, robotic applications, and sustainable energy technologies during his Ph.D. and postdoctoral research at Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea. His research also includes sensing systems with integrated AI, biodegradable materials and functional composites derived from waste. His current research at KTH is centered on AI-integrated triboelectric nanogenerators for plant health monitoring with an objective to integrate sustainable functional materials, energy harvesting and artificial intelligence for intelligent and autonomous agriculture technologies. He has received several international recognitions including the DGIST Distinguish Alumini Award (2025), European Materials Research Society Young Researcher Award (2024), Wiley Early Career Research Award (2024) and World's Top 2% Scientists published by Elseiver.
