Vita Weitong Xu

I am a dual-degree PhD candidate working with sustainable blue economy, under a joint doctoral program between KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the Blåmat / Blue Food Center.

My doctoral research examines scalable pathways of seafood industry, large-scale seaweed production systems, processing pathways, and system-level sustainability performance. I apply complex environmental system assessment approaches—such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Material Flow Analysis (MFA)—alongside qualitative and data-driven methods to evaluate environmental impacts, economic feasibility, and trade-offs under uncertainty.
