Victor Lamelas Cubero
My main background in academic research is in the macro and micromechanical testing of hard and super hard materials. I have been involved in the mechanical testing of polycrystalline diamond compacts, cubic boron nitride inserts, cemented carbides, TiN/CrN coatings among others.
I have some experience in the additive manufacturing industry, both in the processing of polymeric and metallic powder-based printing techniques, high-speed sintering and Binder Jetting respectively.
My PhD position its held within the framework of materials design of cemented carbides within the Hero-m 2i (Hierarchical engineering of industrials materials to innovation) competence center.
The aim of my project is mainly to use Integrated Computational Materials Engineering, ICME, to develop modeling tools aimed at the replacement of Co from cemented carbides. Although the main emphasis is on new theoretical predictive tools regarding the microstructure evolution during the process and in service, and the related materials properties, experimental verification, and measurements play an essential role.
