List of chosen/assigned projects

All "first version" projects handed in on time have received feedback.

Improvements usually concern the following details:

  • Paper does not conform to given format
  • References missing, incomplete, not proper format, questionable (not reviewed paper), not referred to in text, no newer references.
  • Research question not clearly stated, argumentation vague, experiment does not test hypothesis
  • Conclusions questionable, results unclear
  • Comparison with other research missing, lacking future directions and recommendations
  • Spelling errors, non-idiomatic English, incorrect grammar (for example verb plural)
  • No tables or figures to illustrate results, caption missing for table/figure, purpose of illustration unclear

Should the report have the headers stated in the task description, or should it be according to a standard format (with problem statement, etc.)?

kommenterade 3 november 2014

Another question, if you are doing more of a literature study than an experiment/implementation, should the Synthesis section still be 'fake'? That is, should the research of real information done for part 1 of the project not be used here either (so that you instead make up info you pretend to have found)?

kommenterade 3 november 2014

What is "Part 1" of the project? A fully finished report draft?

kommenterade 3 november 2014

I interpret it as 1.Preparatory reading and studies, but correct me if I'm wrong.

kommenterade 4 november 2014

When you say "Preparatory reading and studies", I'm guessing you want us to describe some background to what models/theories etc we are going to use, and discuss some previous studies in the same area?

In the PDF you're linking, the structure is a bit odd (odd != bad), but when reading through it I thought that the part 1 of the project should be something, in a more common form:

* Headline

* Introduction

* Background Research

Is this a correct observation?

Lärare kommenterade 4 november 2014

Yes, that is roughly correct.

kommenterade 11 november 2014

When i try to hand in Part 1 of the project i receive the following error: "Permission Denied. User does not exist in moodle database. Please contact your system administrator.". Any ideas?

Assistent kommenterade 11 november 2014

Try  (Part 1 of project - test) instead!

(Black box testing ^_^)

kommenterade 11 november 2014

Sorry, i still receive "Permission Denied. User does not exist in moodle database. Please contact your system administrator."

kommenterade 13 november 2014

Yeah, same problem here. Same thing with the List of chosen/assigned projects link.

Assistent kommenterade 13 november 2014

@Rasmus & Johan Kvastad:

The problem seems to be that KTH Social does not consider you part of the course instance vettig14. I have now added

  • (Project part 1 - test)

to the global menu - please try that.

Sorry about the complications!

Assistent kommenterade 13 november 2014

@Rasmus: Yo do have a chosen project in the list you cannot access (music)

kommenterade 13 november 2014

I still can not access the "Part 1 of project" link. When i click it i end up with

Ett fel har uppstått! Försök igen senare eller kontakta support.
kommenterade 13 november 2014

Same for me and a few others. There seem to be different links for the submission. The under the current course round (HT 2014) does not work (I am getting the message above). Using the link under "General" works, but I have not tried to submit anything, yet.

kommenterade 14 november 2014

Still not working. The "Hand in Project Part 1 here!" gives "Access Denied. There is no user registered like that! Please check with your course administrator." and the "part 1 of project" gives

Ett fel har uppstått! Försök igen senare eller kontakta support.

Should we just e-mail the project to someone?

kommenterade 14 november 2014

"There will be two hours of reception time each week, starting week 42, when you can meet
us and discuss your project."

I haven't seen anything about this in the schedule or in any other page here in KTH Social. When and where are these receptions?

kommenterade 14 november 2014

I still can't upload anything. I'll bring a copy of the paper during the next lecture or seminar (who should I give the paper to?), and I've also mailed the paper to he@kth.se at 17:05 (so that you have some proof that I sent it in before the deadline). I think that this problem only occurs for those of us who were also registered on a previous years' course.

kommenterade 14 november 2014

This is my first time taking the course and i can not hand in the paper, so i will email it to the Karlander to have some proof.

kommenterade 19 november 2014

How closely do we have to follow the report format?

We are used to a report format like:
Abstract, introduction, related work, method, results, discussion and conclusion, while the ProjectInfo.pdf suggests a different report format. The contents of the report will essentially be the same anyways, but are we allowed to change the format?

Lärare kommenterade 28 november 2014

In this project you should follow the format given in Projectinfo.pdf.

Is it only me and my three friends that think that the headings (analysis etc.) are a bit strange?

Isn't Method/Implementation more common?

Are we required to follow the format?

Lärare kommenterade 15 december 2014

Yes, please follow the format.

kommenterade 15 december 2014

Does that mean NO introduction section?

Assistent kommenterade 15 december 2014

Please follow the format, as Johan says.

Hi, are tables/figures also mandatory for literature studies? In that case I think it should have been more clearly stated in the project description.

Thanks.

"All "first version" projects handed in on time have received feedback."

Where is this feedback available? I sent in my project on time, but via email (due to the registration bug that prevents me and a few other people from uploading the project to KTH Social). Could I please get my corrections sent to me by mail?

kommenterade 11 januari 2015

I also want my feedback for the report! Thank you!

If the feedback was of such a form that no letter was "F" in the evaluation string, does that mean I could potentially resubmit the same version of the project for the final project and not fail the assignment?

Lärare kommenterade 12 januari 2015

Yes, that is correct.

kommenterade 12 januari 2015

Okay, will there be a new upload link or will it stay the same? :)

Assistent kommenterade 15 januari 2015

@Adam: Same upload link but with a new name (Final version of project) and new deadline!

kommenterade 15 januari 2015

After uploading my final version I got this error message: "Ett fel uppstod med ditt inlämnande: The due date for this assignment has passed and you have already made a submission."

However, my uploaded file is visible and seems to be uploaded correctly. Is there actually an error or can I ignore that message?

Assistent kommenterade 15 januari 2015

@Johan:

This is an erroneous error message. I have no trouble accessing the file you handed in - so do not worry about it!

@Linda Kann or anyone else who knows,

Could you answer Daniels question?

Hi,

So I've been really confused as to how I should recieve the feedback for my part 1 on the project. But I decided to just continue writing instead, now I finally realized that it should be under "inlämningsuppgifter" however there it says that I never handed in anything "This homework is 65 days late", I know with 100% certaintity that I did send it in then. It wasn't alot, not at all. But I did send send. I am absolutely fine with no feedback, however I am worried that since one of the criteria is "Process" that this will detrimentally affect my grade in this. I was wondering if that will be the case or if I can still achieve an A on the project?

Best regards,
Alexander

kommenterade 19 januari 2015

They have said previously that the grade criteria "process" works like this: If you hand in your final version later than January 19th, you can get no more than E. Whether you handed in the draft or not doesn't matter for the grade.
