Oktober 2014
Sida Exam
under HT 2014

Tobias Oechtering skapade sidan 28 juli 2014

On Tue, Oct 28, 14:00-19:00 a written exam will take place. The exam will be designed to test the understanding of the material taught during the course. The registration for the exam has to be done until Mon, Oct 14 under your personal  "My Pages" account.

The exam will consist of two parts (subject to minor changes).

* Part A: Questionnaire with 16 questions. Each answer will be assessed as correct (+1 point), wrong (-1 point) or no answer (0 point). You pass this part of the exam if you achieve 8 points, including the bonus points, and then Part B will be graded. If you do not pass Part A, then you fail the whole exam (Part B will not be graded).

* Part B: Problem solving. The problems will be similar to problems in previous exams/tutorials. If you pass Part A, then the grade of the exam (A-F) is exclusively determined by the points achieved in Part B.
Allowed aids for exam:
* The script “Signal Theory” (without personal notes)
* Table of formulas in signal processing,
* EE/KTH Beta Math handbook (sold at KTH book store), or similar (please check with course responsible in advance)
* Language dictionary if desired (ask before)
Note: Pocket calculators are NOT allowed.

Info about procedure: You will get paper in the exam. The examination process will be managed by people from STEX who will arrange proctors for the exam. Note that these proctors are not related to the course and simply follow the rules; they check that you are not cheating (they are very good at this!), they remove supplementary material that is not allowed for the exam and unfortunately cannot answer questions regarding the content. However, the teacher and the TAs will regularly come by during the examination, to answer questions. No questions regarding your bonus points in the exam will be answered!

Re-exam: The re-exam will be in January 9th, 2015, time and date will be provided soonfrom 2 pm- 7 pm. The bonus points from the course round HT2014 will be still valid. Please register for the exam at least two weeks before.

There are two parallel tutorials where you will work in groups. Before each tutorial you will be randomly assigned to a group of 4 student. The intention of the random grouping is to introduce you to as many of your study fellows as possible so that you might find those with whom you can study best. In each tutorial you will first have a brief recapitulation and discussion of the course content followed by problem solving first in groups and then altogether with the TA.

In five tutorials you will get the opportunity to obtain 1 bonus point for part A of the final exam (5 problems = 5 points). After your group worked on the assigned problem the TA asks you to hand in the solution you found in the group. If your group solution shows that a reasonable approach (not necessarily correct) then every group member gets 1 bonus point. If the solution shows that you jointly worked on the problem, then you get 1/2 bonus point. The date and problem which will be worth a bonus point will not be revealed before. Another 5+1 bonus points can be obtained in answering reading assignments and participate in the diagnostic test. The intention of this is to motivate your participation in the tutorial.
