Does your idea meet the needs of the Swedish healthcare system? Now you can test your innovation at an early stage with an interactive PDF.

“Generating the necessary and relevant evidence for medical devices is a complex and costly process. It is often unclear what type or level of evidence is required, and the focus is rarely on patients or users,” says Adam Darwich.

Adam Darwich and Bertil Guve, Associate Professors at KTH, together with Danderyd Hospital, Karolinska Institutet and Swedish Medtech, have mapped how the Swedish healthcare system assesses and evaluates medical technology innovations in the field of rehabilitation.

The survey has resulted in a new tool, an interactive PDF. It guides the innovator through a series of questions.

“The tool can streamline development work at all stages, from idea to design, planning, collaboration, education, training and communication. It can also be used to inspire clinical trials and health economic studies,” says Adam.

The target audience for the tool is innovators in small companies, start-ups, universities and healthcare organisations.

Adam Darwich and Bertil Guve are looking forward to further developing the tool as part of the Medtech4Health-supported project.

“Medical technology is a very broad field. We started by focusing on rehabilitation. In the future, we will also explore how we can support evidence generation for e-health solutions and what challenges are specific to these products,” says Adam Darwich.
