The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Health Systems focuses on the technology and tools that are needed to keep people healthy and treat them when they are ill.
We produce technologies that doctors use in the hospital, and research ways to protect people in their work, when exposed to risks on the streets, and under extreme circumstances. We develop the future of care provision with more digital support for patients in their homes, and its consequences for the design of the health care system at large.
Our location in Flemingsberg makes us neighbours to other strong players in this domain. We provide our technological expertise to collaborations with medical expertise at the Karolinska Institute and the Karolinska Hospital, the nursing expertise at the Red Cross University College, as well as with the others universities in the area.
