Project: Mathematical and analytical aspects of post-quantum cryptography

Martin Ekerå, Joel Gärtner, Johan Håstad PhD

As a first step it is important to understand the power of quantum computers and how to analyze algorithms executed on such machines. Ekerå has established himself as an international expert on the analysis of the existing attacks against the public crypto-systems in use. Some of his work in this area has been co-authored by Gärtner and Håstad.

On top of contributing to this research, Gärtner has closely analyzed some of the newly proposed schemes and proposed a new variant that is more efficient in some situations and which appears to be more robust.

Ekerå and Gärtner will soon graduate and hopefully remain active in CDIS. It is important to recruit a new PhD student to further solidify the research group. This student will initially be
supervised by Håstad but Ekerå and Gärtner are expected to eventually take on stronger leadership roles within this project.
