National research programmes
KTH participates in five major national research programmes funded by KAW. The programmes are strategic investments that build competence in priority areas through international recruitment, doctoral education and collaboration between academia and industry.
Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP)
Sweden's largest individual research programme in modern times. Coordinated by Linköping University in partnership with KTH, Chalmers, Lund University and Umeå University. Funding: SEK 4.9 billion, 2015–2031.
Wallenberg Center for Quantum Technology (WACQT)
A national programme with the goal of positioning Sweden at the forefront of quantum technology, including the development of an advanced quantum computer. Coordinated by Chalmers in collaboration with KTH and Lund University. Funding: SEK 1.2 billion, 2018–2029.
Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability (WISE)
Sweden's largest research investment in materials science for a sustainable future. Coordinated by Linköping University in collaboration with KTH and five other universities. Funding: SEK 2.7 billion, 2022–2033.
Wallenberg National Program on Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS)
Recruits and trains the next generation of researchers in data science and life science. Coordinated by SciLifeLab in collaboration with ten universities, including KTH. Funding: SEK 3.1 billion, 2019–2031.
Wallenberg Wood Science Center (WWSC)
A research centre focused on new materials from wood. KTH hosts the centre, which is run jointly with Chalmers and Linköping University. Funding: SEK 1 billion, 2009–2028.
