AROMA, a tool developed at the Department of Energy Technology at KTH is used to predict the lifetime of mission critical components such as compressor and turbine bladed disks that drive the fuel system of space rockets. The application of the tool was the target of the NRFP project AROMA space which was a joint collaboration between KTH and GKN Aerospace. In this talk, the modelling tool will be presented together with the major project outcomes and a short overview of the main challenges in turbomachinery aeromechanics.
