Naval Architecture

The KTH Centre for Naval architecture is responsible for research and education related to all concievable marine vessels, associated technologies and more.

We are engaged in a wide variety of marine platforms, ranging from underwater vehicles, via autonomous surface drones, through hydrofoiling craft to commercial ships with and without sails. Occasionally we even engage in project on aquatic flying drones. We study aspects of these vessels such as performance, efficiency, control, manoeuvrability, navigation, seakeeping, resistance. Modern vessels also need good perception. Consequently, we engage in sensors and perception and automated control. We naturally interact with industry, academia and authorities on the international arena. Our approach to research is often combining analytical/numerical studies with experimental investigations.
