Vision and goals

Our vision is to lead the industrial transformation towards more sustainable production. The goal is to create a positive social impact through education and research. Our two campus environments are open meeting placec for learning, research and innovation, where diverse actors, disciplines, sectors and organisations can come together.

We aim for production that is:

  • Capable and Precise
  • Flexible and Resilient
  • Connected and Smart
  • Human-centric

Our research

Our units house a broad range of research and educational themes and the department is at the forefront of sustainable production, digitalisation and circular economic principles. Our research activities are rooted in a close relationship between the development and operation of production and logistics systems, and conducted within the context of digitalisation and sustainability. Our research is conducted in close relationship with world-leading manufacturing companies and SMEs, as well as our competence centres and research infrastructures. Our strength builds upon industrially applied methods and our strong industrial ties.

Our education

Our programs, courses and commissioned training courses cover the entire production process with both engineering, economic models and management. We will provide our students and partners with knowledge and skills within the construction, development and operation of flexible industrial production systems and IT-systems, to produce competitive products in a resource efficient manner. Our engineers will know the different parts of the productions process. They will be able to adapt all parts of the value chain and create synergies for sustainable manufacturing, to maximise the output for the industry. Central concepts are ”agile”, ”lean” and ”process”.
