Kristinn B. Gylfason receives a Göran Gustafsson’s Young Researcher Prize
Kristinn B. Gylfason, researcher at the KTH Microsystem Technology Laboratory, has been awarded one of the Young Researcher Prizes of the Göran Gustafsson foundation this year, for his work on photonic biosensors. The price will support Kristinn’s research on new biosensors for studying signaling dynamics on the single cell level.
By taking advantage of the miniaturization techniques of microsystem technology, Kristinn B. Gylfason and his co-workers create sensors the size of single human cells. Since these sensors are so small, they can detect extremely small amounts of biomolecules, down to the levels a single cell secretes to interact with other cells in its environment.
The Göran Gustafsson foundation supports outstanding young researchers at KTH and Uppsala University. This year Kristinn B. Gylfason has been awarded 300.000 SEK for his work. The prizes will be handed out at Grand Hotel on May 4.
