Om mig
Hi, I am Aimin (you can also call me Eamon)! I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Division of Information Science and Engineering (ISE) at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where I am fortunate to be advised by Prof. Mikael Skoglund. I love thinking about how communication systems can deliver information not only reliably, but also at the right time and for the right purpose, and my research looks for the information-theoretic foundations behind this.
I received my B.S. (GPA ranked 2nd) and Ph.D. (GPA ranked 1st) degrees from Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), where my undergraduate thesis received the Best Undergraduate Thesis Award and my doctoral dissertation was the EE Department’s sole nominee for the Best Dissertation Award. During my Ph.D., I spent time as a visiting researcher at the A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research (I²R), Singapore, under the supervision of Prof. Sumei Sun. Before coming to Stockholm, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Middle East Technical University (METU), Türkiye, where I was advised by Prof. Elif Uysal and contributed to the ERC Advanced Grant project GO-SPACE. I feel truly grateful to the mentors and friends who have walked with me along the way.
My interests center on information theory, Age of Information (AoI), and semantic and goal-oriented communications, together with channel coding, stochastic and network optimization, and non-terrestrial networks. With my wonderful collaborators, I have published in venues such as IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, ACM MobiHoc, IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE INFOCOM, and IEEE ISIT.
I have also had the chance to serve as a Guest Editor for Entropy and Electronics, a Session Chair at IEEE ITW 2024 and IEEE Globecom 2024, and a reviewer for over 30 journals and conferences, including IEEE TIT, JSAC, TON, TCOM, TWC, TMC, ISIT, and INFOCOM.
Outside of work, I love reciting poetry and reading classical Chinese literature, where I often find the same quiet beauty I look for in a good mathematical proof. I also play the violin and enjoy hiking, and I am excited to explore the forests and archipelago around Stockholm. Lately I have been curious about where information theory meets physics, which fits my little motto, "复杂中见序" (order in complexity), a principle I find holds true in research and in life alike. Having lived in China, the United States, Singapore, and Türkiye, I am now looking forward to my first Swedish winter!
