Seren Dincel is a Doctoral Candidate in Architectural Design, Technology and Representation at the KTH School of Architecture. She holds master’s degrees in Architectural Lighting Design from Hochschule Wismar and in Interior Architecture and Spatial Design from Sapienza University of Rome, and a bachelor’s degree from Bahçeşehir University, Istanbul. Her professional practice includes urban lighting design projects in Sweden and the Middle East. Her doctoral research examines how spatial, material, ecological, and technological systems intersect in after-dark planning, with particular attention to the implications of outdoor lighting for multispecies coexistence in urban green areas.
The doctoral project is situated within the transdisciplinary research consortium NorDark (www.NorDark.org), where she has been an active researcher during 2022–2025, funded by NordForsk and the Swedish Energy Agency. From 2026, the doctoral project continues with dedicated support from Bertil och Britt Svenssons Stiftelse för Belysningsteknik.
