About me
Seren Dincel is a doctoral candidate in Architectural Design, Technology, and Representation at the KTH School of Architecture. She holds master’s degrees in Architectural Lighting Design from Hochschule Wismar and in Interior Architecture and Spatial Design from Sapienza University of Rome, as well as a bachelor’s degree from Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul. Her professional practice encompasses urban lighting design projects across Sweden and the Middle East. Her doctoral research examines how spatial, material, ecological, and technological systems intersect in after-dark planning, with particular attention to the implications of outdoor lighting for multispecies coexistence in urban green areas.
Her doctoral project is situated within the transdisciplinary research consortium NorDark, funded by NordForsk and Swedish Energy Agency. Between 2022 and 2025, she contributed to research activities in WP4: Lighting Design at KTH and WP2: Chronobiology at Stockholm University. From 2026 onward, her doctoral project continues with dedicated support from Bertil och Britt Svenssons Stiftelse för Belysningsteknik.
