Einar Rodhe

I am a PhD candidate at KTH School of Architecture, a senior lecturer at Konstfack, and co-founder of architecture studio Norell/Rodhe.

My doctoral project Drawing with the Aftermath departs from the messy and entangled flows of used building materials. Through site works and emerging technologies for architectural representation, it seeks to visualize architecture’s hidden afterlife and develop methods for an expanded and locally situated reuse practice.

The project builds on a decade of practice-based research with Norell/Rodhe. The work of Norell/Rodhe includes Mindepartementet, a conversion of an old navy warehouse on the island of Skeppsholmen for the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm; Eldberget, an urban vision for the abandoned Toulluvaara mine in the Arctic city of Kiruna; and Raamland, a community garden and pavilion in the historic centre of Bruges. The work and research of Norell/Rodhe have been exhibited at ArkDes, Bildmuseet, the Bruges Triennial, the Oslo Triennale, the Venice Biennale, and the Yale School of Architecture, and have been published in journals and edited volumes. Rodhe studied architecture at KTH in Stockholm and at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen. He has taught at KTH, at Porto Academy, and at the Spatial Design master’s programme at Konstfack.
