About me

Joakim Lundeberg defended his PhD thesis in Biotechnology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in 1993. After a postdoctoral period at the Radiumhospital in Oslo, Norway,  JL returned to KTH as group leader. JL received a professorship in Molecular Biotechnology in 2000 at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Today JL leads a research group at the Department of Gene Technology, School of Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health and the research group is based at Science for Life Laboratory, Stockholm since 2010 - a multiuniveristy effort. JL is the departing director for National Genomics Infrastructure at SciLIfeLab, one of Europe's leading sequencing centers.

The research group of JL is involved in method development for nucleic acids analysis. The development of new technologies for DNA/RNA analysis has revolutionized research in the life sciences in recent years and JL has pioneered and provided distinctive contribution to the field. Ongoing activities within Professor Lundeberg’s group stem from a efforts to study genes and their spatial expression in tissues and then apply these in interdisciplinary research programmes in life science such as in molecular atlasing of  tissues in health and disease.
