About me
I am a PhD student at the Energy Systems Division of the Enery Department (EGI) of ITM School, specializing in energy systems modelling. My main focus is energy access, modelling possible pathways to achieve universal electrification and clean cooking. Currently, the models developed by the team, OnSSET and OnStove (electricity and clean cooking respectively), consider techno-economic, health, and environment (in form of GHG emissions) as dimensions of analysis. The focus of my research is to expand the dimensions of analysis by considering socio-economic factors, affordability and climate change adaptation. I obtained my bachelor's and licentiate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad de Costa Rica and a master's degree in sustainable energy engineering from a double degree program hosted by Aalto University and KTH. I am passionate about sustainability in the energy sector moving beyond carbon tunnel vision, the achievement of SDGs, and I have working experience in the international development sector through two separate experiences with GIZ. With my PhD research and I hope to bring these interests together.
