About me
I have worked in the field of protein microarrays since 2006, initially utilizing microarrays for validation of binding specificities of the antibodies produced by the Human Protein Atlas. Between 2018 and 2025 I acted as head of the SciLifeLab Autoimmunity and Serology Profiling unit and I am currently Team Leader for Protein and Peptide Arrays in the SciLifeLab Affinity Proteomics Unit.
The Protein and Peptide Arrays team provides infrastructure and technologies for analysis of the autoantibody repertoire in body fluids and antibody validation using custom designed protein and peptide arrays.
Supported by the resource of more than 42 000 unique human protein fragments generated within the Human Protein Atlas, representing nearly 19 000 human protein coding genes, we offer proteome wide screening for autoantibody reactivity on large microarrays, as well as downstream solutions for investigation of autoantibody repertoires in hundreds of patient samples in parallel.
Instrumentation and know-how are available for generating customized protein microarrays in both planar and bead-based formats, as well as measurement and analysis of commercially available protein microarrays. The team offer research support and consultation regarding any type of project which could be feasible for application of protein microarrays, from full-service of large-scale screenings to small scale instrument access.
Protein microarrays are a versatile technology that can be utilized for many applications such as:
-
Identify and profile autoantibodies in biofluids for studying autoimmune diseases and understand disease mechanisms.
-
Biomarker discovery to identify potential biomarkers for different diseases by analysing protein expression patterns in diseases such as cancers, autoimmune disorders, or infectious diseases.
-
Interaction profiling of drug candidates to identify off-target interactions and aiding in optimizing drug design.
-
Understanding tumour immunology by identifying cancer-specific antigens for development of immunotherapies.
-
Analyse protein-protein interactions to understand signaling pathways and molecular mechanisms in biological processes.
Examples of the types of projects we can assist in can be found in the teams publication list.
