Om mig
Ruoli received her BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Southeast University in 2004, and her MSc and PhD in Engineering Mechanics from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in 2007 and 2012, respectively. Her doctoral research focused on quantifying the biomechanical consequences of gait impairments and foot and ankle deformities resulting from various musculoskeletal disorders and symptoms. As a postdoctoral researcher, she worked with the Paediatric Neurology group at Karolinska Institutet and the Computational Biology group at KTH, where her research centered on quantifying spasticity and secondary changes in muscle structure and properties associated with spasticity.
Currently, at the Department of Engineering Mechanics, KTH, her work focuses on developing experimental and computational methodologies to non-invasively estimate muscle neuromechanics. This includes investigating motor neuron firing behavior, force modulation, mechanical musculotendon parameters, and muscle stiffness, using an integrated approach combining medical imaging, musculoskeletal modeling, and optimization techniques. She is also interested in out-of-lab solutions for biomechanical analysis of movement, with potential applications in clinical assessment and biofeedback-based rehabilitation. Ruoli was awarded the title of Docent in Biomechanics in 2022 and is a member of the research team at thePromobilia MoveAbility Lab (Promobilia MoveAbility Lab) and affiliated with the Division of Paediatric Neurology, Karolinska Institutet
