Sayyed Shoaib-Ul-Hasan

Dr. Sayyed Shoaib-ul-Hasan is a researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, specializing in sustainable development, circular economy strategies, and industrial transformation. His work integrates engineering principles with circularity and sustainability science to foster resilient and resource-efficient industries. At KTH, Dr. Shoaib-ul-Hasan plays a pivotal role in several significant initiatives:

• CE@KTH (Circular Economy at KTH): An internal strategic initiative established in 2017, CE@KTH aims to create academic leadership in Circular Economy through research, education, and collaboration with industry partners. Dr. Shoaib-ul-Hasan contributes to this initiative by engaging in research and development activities that support the transition towards circular manufacturing. ​
• KTH Battery 3PC Initiative: Launched in March 2025, this initiative focuses on enhancing large-scale, sustainable, and high-quality battery production in Europe. The acronym 3PC stands for Process, Production, Product, and Circularity, reflecting a comprehensive approach to addressing challenges in battery manufacturing.​
• DiCiM Project: Standing for Digitalised Value Chains for Circular Manufacturing Systems, DiCiM aims to develop integrated digital solutions along the value chain to support circular economy activities in sectors such as white goods, electronics, and automotive. Dr. Shoaib-ul-Hasan has been actively involved since its inception, contributing his expertise to advance the project's objectives.

In addition to his project engagements, Dr. Shoaib-ul-Hasan is actively involved in international standardization efforts on Circular Economy where he holds several expert memberships:​

• Expert member, European Committee for Standardization: CEN/TC 473 -Circular Economy/WG2
• Expert member, International Organization for Standardization: ISO/TC 323 -Circular Economy/WG2

As part of ISO/TC 323, he has significantly contributed to the development of the ISO 59000 series on Circular Economy. Notably, he has conducted several training workshops and seminars on ISO 59010:2024 - Circular Economy — Guidance on the Transition of Business Models and Value Networks.
