About me
Hi!
I am currently a postdoc working at the Material Science and Engineering Department (MSE) within the Unit of Processes. My research focuses on green transition of the iron and steel industry (e.g. direct reduction of iron ores, utilization of biofuels to replace fossil fuels), valorization and recycling of industrial residues by implementing industrial symbiosis (e.g. by re-using residues from pulp and paper industry for steelmaking processes, replacing flourspar in steelmaking processes with environmentally friendly fluxing agents). I obtained both my PhD and Master's Degree in the field of material science at MSE, and I completed a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Hong Kong.
My hands-on skills inlcude high-temperature experiments, furnace deisgn and construction, thermodynamic modelling, microstructural analysis of slag/steel, CAD drawings, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and COMSOL Multiphysics.
My long-term vision is to contribute to the sustainable development of the industrial sector, regardless of the topics that I work with.
Projects that I am currently involved in:
[1] EU RFCS BioReSteel project (2023-2027) - Goal is to extract phosphorous from hydrochar (a type of biochar) to produce green fertilizer and to use the "clean" hydrochar for replacing fossil coal used in the EAF process - I am the leading researcher from KTH. Read more about the project here: https://bioresteel.eu/partners.html
[2] Vinnova - Sustainable fluxing in the AOD process (2024-2025)- Project partners include: KTH, LTU, Outokompu, Alleima, Jernkontoret - I am the project leader as well as leading researcher from KTH.
[3] Vinnova - Eldfasta material vid ståltillverkning: mekanismer för foderslitage (2024-2025)- Project partners include: KTH, Outokompu, Alleima, Jernkontoret - Project goal is to study the mechanism of refractory wear in the AOD process - I am involved as leading researcher from KTH.
