DOCTOR STUDENT
You can call me Zheheng or Johan; they sound the same, so either works! I've been at KTH Royal Institute of Technology since September 2023, studying electromagnetic waves and light–matter interactions with Prof. Ilya Sychugov and Prof. Lars Berglund.
My current focus is numerical electromagnetic wave simulation (COMSOL), designing diffractive optical elements and metasurfaces (using COMSOL and Zemax), and applying novel algorithms (like topology optimization and machine learning (NN, GAN, etc.)) to photonics. Experimentally, I use advanced microscopy to investigate the properties of luminescent phenomena like quantum dots and metal clusters.
Outside of research, I enjoy photography and 3D simulation design. I run an online channel where I've published over 100 free tutorials on scientific design using Blender. I'm especially passionate about its Geometry Nodes for visualizing complex physics and algorithms. Feel free to reach out if you're interested in discussing any of these topics!
