The objective of this course is to give an overview of control and operation of power systems in a wide sense, including generation, transmission and distribution of electric power.
The course follows a "course-map" starting at the interface to the power system with measurement transformers via substation automation systems and communication systems into the control room and the Energy Management Systems that are used for overall control and optimisation of the power system.
The perspective of the course is one of "Systems Engineering" and students are encouraged throughout the course to use skills and knowledge from other courses in order to design computer based control systems for power system applications.
